A week ago I was packing my bags in Roztoky and celebrating our World Champion status with some of the girls. In the past week I've reached some new highs, hit a few snags, fell in love, changed plans, and had quite the adventure along the way.

Monday started out with the train to Vienna. Best train yet ... it served me free food :) I ended up bunking in with a teammate and her travel com panions for the night. We explored Vienna under the moonlight after having a wonderful dinner at one of the recommended restaurants in Vienna. We stumbled upon a big festival and some fantastic looking buildings lit up. We found that we were a day late for a huge film festival that was showing the movies OUTSIDE infront of a beautiful building. It was nice to have people to wander around with. Tuesday morning I took my bag to the train station early so that I could wander pack-free until the afternoon. We went to the Hofburg Palace and oh my goodness, beautiful! Pics are available in the album from this past week on my facebook. As we were walking into the Palace grounds, I hear my name called and it's one of the grandmasters men that I know from Ottawa, they had just toured the grounds and said it was amazing. It definitely lived up to it!

Caught an afternoon train to Salsburg, home of the Sound of Music. I really should watch this movie, especially since mom gave it to me for Christmas as a joke last year! During my search for my hostel I hear my name called again, this time by a teammate that was touring the city. Explored the Salzburg Cathedral with her before continuing on my search for my hostel. A few backtracks later I managed to find it in a place I had circled a few times, got checked in and then went for a run along the river. Yes, a run! My day of celebration was over, it's time to prepare for the IVF Worlds in May. Great run, took some pics along the way. Decided that I might as well figure out how to get up to the palace so that I'd know in the morning. So climbed up, beautiful view of the city lights. The next moring I hoofed it up there again and explored. Pretty neat with a stunning view of the hills and mountains around the city. The hills were definitely alive with the sound of music (there was a concert at the palace when I hiked up there the night before). Salzburg is somewhere I'd like to come back to in the future to spend more time exploring.

Caught an early afternoon train to Innsbruck and checked it out there for a few hours hitting the train again to Zurich for the night. Glad I stopped, it was a pretty cool city with amazing mountains ... they are getting bigger! In Zurich I met two girls on the train that were going to the hostel so we wandered through the night streets together. Wasn't a big fan of Zurich. It was neat to see but really commercial. I was having a bummer of a day and was thinking I may just go straight through to Bern and crash at the hostel there but decided to stick to plan and see Luzern (mom and I saw it on tv a couple days before I left and said that I had to go there). So glad I did. As soon as I stepped out of the station, I fell in love. Check out my fb note for details.

Oh my, it's 2am and I need sleep! I'll have to finish my update later on. I'm currently in Marseille, France. Meeting up with Pete Buday of OPAdvantage tomorrow to head over to Greece for a paddling excursion.

For all you fine folks heading back to Boylen. I'm with you in spirit. I haven't forgotten about you at all, how could I when soccer is all over the place here!!! Get back in the grove folks and the year will fly by. Skyhawk Soccer ... you better bring it boys ... I'll be back to check on you in November!

Bits and bites:

It's official that I will be back in Canada the week of September 21st. So texts and phone calls may resume for domestic prices at that time :) I have no idea when I'll have internet again so please forgive not so frequent updates.

To all those returning to school/work this week ... enjoy :) Just remember that you keep getting a pay cheque whereas I don't!
