On Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 the Canadian National Premier Womens Dragonboat Team was announced. In August this team will represent Canada at the 2009 World Dragonboat Racing Championships in Prague, Czech Republic. Since my name happened to be on that list I now get to add a Eurpean flavour to my adventure! My mind is just reeling with the possibilities of spending some time after the Championships in Europe. I've found an outrigger club in the city where my brother will be living and have even found a race that's only a few hours away during the time I hope to be there.

Our team is in the process of publishing an 18 month calendar that celebrates the Strength, Determination and Commitment of female athletes. If you're interested in purchasing one of these calendars, please contact me. I'll post a sample and the cost details when I get them. All proceeds go towards supporting our Road to the Podium in Prague.

Aside from paddling Dragonboat, I'm coaching a few teams for National Dragonboat Club this spring at Sunnyside in Toronto. I'm also running an evening outrigger session for WaiNui O'Kanaka out of the Cawathra Hale.

I've been out in my Marathon C1 a few times and raced in the Speed River Challenge May 2nd in Cambridge. Had a blast chasing the C2s up and down the river. One more marathon race and then I sadly have to say goodbye to my C1. After next weekend it's all outrigger all the time ... well, except for the OMCRA Provincial Championships in July.

School wise things are just rolling towards the end of the year. My soccer team has the city championships in 2 weeks to see if they can qualify for the Ofsaa Championships. Prom is coming up quickly as is the Athletic Banquet to celebrate the acheivements of our Student-Athletes.

I had the privilege this weekend to travel to Great Wolf Lodge on behalf of Animas Canada to speak to 40 families that have a memeber with Type 1 Diabetes. Everytime I get to speak to a group like this I'm inspired by these kids that have lived with Diabetes for most of their young lives. Thanks again to Animas for inviting me to this event!

Countdown to Adventure => 47 days!
