Three days of racing down and one more to go, after a day off. We race the 500m races on Sunday. On Wednesday we had the 2000m. One race, 12 teams, leaving from the start area every 12 seconds chasing down the boats ahead while trying to stay ahead of the teams behind. Race goes around the 500m course so three turns. We were the 11th team to start with Russia coming behind us. We had a great start and were up to a good speed when we hit the timing start line. All the way down the first 500m we were making ground on the teams ahead of us. We had great corners thanks to our steerswoman Julie. We passed a couple teams and our time put us the best in the World!! Gold medal! Pictures found HERE.

On Thursday we had the 1000m heats and finals. Our heat was a tough one but we jumped out to the early lead and it looked like China shut it down early and let us win the heat. This put us straight through to the final a few hours later. In the final we had a good start but just couldn't keep up to the USA or China. We were all quite disappointed but still earned a bronze.

After refocusing we had our 200m heats and finals today. We adjusted our race plan and changed a few technical points and went out and executed in our heat. Again, winning the heat (we had a little bit of revenge by beating the USA in the heat) and advancing straight to the final 3 hours later. We gave itall that we had in the final but still came up a little short, losing to China by .25s. But we managed to beat the USA so one down, one more to knock off the block. China and USA are going down in the 500m on Sunday! Tonight we had a team dinner and a little birthday party for our coach. Pictures found HERE.

Tomorrow we have a day off so we are going to a UNESCO site that's about an hour away. I don't know much about it but I'm sure I'll learn tomorrow!

Results for the Worlds can be found HERE. Click on results for the results and on Photo Gallery for pictures. More pictures can be found at www.nbeaulieu.com where a couple people from Canada are posting pics.

That's all for now, since others are using my laptop for internet and the internet is a little tempermental around here I don't get much time to update and upload but I'll do the best I can.
