Huge thank yous to Kiley and Kimberley for their wonderful hospitality and comfy couches here in Vancouver!!!! You girls rock!

Thanks to False Creek Racing Canoe Club for letting me come out to a few dragon boat practices and actually trusting me to steer tonight too when they were short a steersperson.

Thanks to all the paddlers from out here that are so welcoming! I've managed to secure a seat for this weekend's race down in Stevenson, WA for the OC6 race. Figure I'm down there, why not get some extra paddling in. I don't get to spend enough time in an OC6 since I'm out on the road so huge thanks to the crews and clubs that take me in to fill a seat. As an aside, I find that getting a couple workouts in an OC6 really helps my strength and lets me focus on technique without having to worry about steering or picking the right line (aka, less thinking).

After an extended weekend here in Van City, I'll be heading down to the U.S. in the morning. I'll likely take my time getting down to Stevenson. Hoping to wander around Seattle a little and maybe check out a couple mountains ;) Portland should be kinda neat as well. Most of the folks I've talked to are aiming to be there for a Wednesday afternoon downwind run so that gives me a day and a half to play with. I've been told that there's some decent outlets along the route to for shopping (like I need anything!)

I don't know too much about the race. Just that it's supposed to be great weather (30C and sunny) and that there should be some good surfing. Apparently the wind tends to blow opposite to the current on the Columbia River which creates some nice waves to ride. Looking forward to some new and different water conditions. That and camping with a ton of other paddlers in a big park for five days!

After the racing this weekend I think I'm going to work my way over to Vancouver Island to try and visit with Kelly and Melissa (and anyone else in Victoria, call me!!!!). Take the ferry across from Port Angeles and then from Comox to Horseshoe Bay at the end of next week for the race to Squamish.

Not sure how much internet access I'll have in the U.S. so txt me if you need to get ahold of me as I may not get access to email for days at a time.

I'm still working on the video blog, just having some technical difficulties but hopefully will have clips up soon (kinda need some internet access!). Kelly and I sat on the beach at Spanish Banks on Saturday night for a while as the sun sunk further behind the Coast Mountains. It was stunning! As for pictures, don't have to many but hopefully get some time to work on it. Surprisingly I'm super busy for a gal with no job! Did a bunch of errands today in preparation of the U.S. trip (that and had a fantastic nap down at Kitts Beach).

Also, I still have some 18 month calendars left. Cost is $20 and the proceeds go towards Breast Cancer, National Women's Dragon Boat team and our quest for gold in Prague! Let me know if you're interested.
