So much for starting the trip off today. Figured if I was going to do this then I might as well do it right and be as organized as I can. Plus it helps to have a car that actually runs when you want to start a road trip!

So packing was going well, car was at the shop, interview at my old high school for supply teaching was the easiest interview ever but low and behold ... a snag! I went to pick up my car from the routine checkup at the shop, hopped in and drove away. Noticed after about 10 seconds that the battery light was on ... weird. Decided to go around the block to see if it just needed a minute to get charged up. Sure enough, after 3 min or so the light went off ... sweet! Ah, NO ... the radio stutters then goes silent, the gages all die and Leanne freaks out, but the car is still running so back to the shop I go!

Strange that it happened after the shop had it but sure glad it happened today instead of somewhere between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg! So got my car back tonight, new alternator and battery and hopefully ready to roll!

The cargo box, ama carriers and boat rack are all now installed. Paddling/camping gear up top and even have clothing packed in the car. Just have food and electronics left to take care of in the morning then should be on the road!

I'm not sure when I'll have internet access again to update but feel free to text me if you'd like a live update :) It gets lonely in the car. I'll try to get back to emails as quick as I can but please be patient.

Also, I still have some 18 month calendars left. Cost is $20 and the proceeds go towards Breast Cancer, National Women's Dragon Boat team and our quest for gold in Prague! I can deliver anywhere between Ottawa and Vancouver (I can also mail them out if need be). Let me know if you're interested.
