This past week was a whirlwind week.  I cleaned up my office, cleaned out my apartment and said goodbye to a lot of people that have been a big part of my life for the past four years.  I got down to Boston Thursday afternoon in time for the registration/reception for the DESA conference.  The reception was held at the Joslin Diabetes Center. So much history there!  Saw a bunch of folks from last year and met some new folks.  Friday’s sessions were great. It’s almost like a homecoming when I have the chance to get together with folks in DESA.  People that have similar goals, have similar struggles, but most of all have great stories of resiliency and living well with Diabetes.  Friday night was spent exploring the North End and a bit of the Financial district with the Connected in Motion girls. Saturday was full of sessions again.  I sat on the Ask the Jock panel and got to speak a little.  Saturday night was the banquet where I received my award.  I also got to speak, it was the first time that mom and dad have heard me speak.  That dawned on me afterwards when Sarah told me that my mom was captivated and on the verge of tears the whole time.  The afterparty ended up hitting the House of Blues in an alley across from Fenway park.  There were fireworks at Fenway as part of a wedding reception that was going on there.  Today was an activity session learning some stretching techniques, Olympic lifts and eating some great food thanks to Jason!
Over the weekend I met more fantastic people!  So many connections made and can’t wait to get working on the projects that were planned this weekend with different people!  Books, events, sponsorship ideas and assistance!
After the conference stuff wrapped up I found myself with 6 hours to kill before I had to head to the airport.  Mom and dad had a great time on the trolley tour and I’d heard good things about the Duck tour so “Why Not?”  I walked up to the Prudential building (found a Qudobas for lunch on the way!) and bought a ticket.  It was a cute little tour that took almost two hours. Got to see lots of stuff I wouldn’t have otherwise seen (or at least wouldn’t have known what I was looking at).  Afterwards I sat at the fountain with my Cold Stone Creamery treat and decided to walk up to Boston Common before I headed to the airport.  Had a great walk, pack on my back, wandering the streets, stopping in a few shops.  Took tons of pictures and now, chilling here waiting EVEN LONGER since my flight is now delayed.  Doesn’t AC know that I have to finish packing my apartment when I get home tonight!  Geez!

Off to Parry Sound Monday then hit the road to BC Tuesday!
