How’s it goin back there in that Canada place eh :p

I’m in Paris at the moment.  Here for tonight then head to Amsterdam for another 2 nights tomorrow. Then it’s onto Prague and the “business” part of the trip.

It’s been great so far.  Got to wander round Hamburg before heading to Bremerhaven to see Chris play.  Got to see all three of his games this weekend, one loss, one tie and one win.   You should see their highlighter pink warmup jerseys!! It’s frickin hilarious!  Especially with their yellow helmets (their game jerseys are black).  Anyways, good to see him play.   I got to paddle on Saturday up there, only three people showed up for their practice so we took the OC6 out with 4 but just went up the river.  They took me out past the harbour after we came back to the club just to show me where they usually paddle.  Love seeing places from the water, it always looks better (even though I had walked the same place the day before).

Monday was a travel day.  Got into Paris a few hours later than expected due to one of my trains having “technical difficulties”.
Up today and did a little tour de paris.   I started out down at Napoleon’s tomb then worked my way over to the Eiffel Tower and climbed up to the second lookout (had to pay more and take elevator to third, screw that).  So that was a bit of a workout.  Pretty cool view!  Glad I got there early as you can see in the pics when I get them up … the lines were massive when I came down around noon and they even had armed military there to keep order!!!  I walked right up to the window, got my ticket and basically walked right to the stairs when I got there, no wait at all (cept for the security gal that thought I had a bottle of booze in the bottom of my backpack when she was checking it so I had to show her that it was just my wallet).
After that headed up towards Arc De Triomphe then walked down Champs L’Elysees.  Go figure, the day that I’m in Paris is the day of the week that the Louvre is closed!!!  I found that out last night when I was reading up on the sights I wanted to see. So I’ll go tomorrow morning before I leave, lines will be shorter in the morning anyways.  I can get a ticket here from the hostel about 4 euros cheaper than at the museum and then I jump the line too J  So I chilled on the side of a pool outside the Louvre for a bit soaking my feet like a few other hundred people.  It was in the 30s here today I’m pretty sure and will be again tomorrow is what I saw in the supermarket tonight on my way home (got me some apples … yum, fresh fruit!).  Sure glad I had my sunscreen on today as I saw a ton of people getting pretty crispy out there!
Anyways, back to the walking.  Headed down towards Notre Dame, walked around it, walked IN it. Then explored the Latin Quarter for a bit before finding a café for dinner.   Wandered my way back across La Seine to some crazy ass building that is the Pompidou Cultural Centre up in the arts district.  Lots of street performers up there.  Then finally kept walking till I found a metro station on the line I wanted to come back to the Hostel.

Hope all is well with all you fine folks wherever you may be!
